    ...so, everytime i open a folder, it keeps adding an open folder in desktop. Where can i adjust it. Please help me.

    The back button is activated only if there is a history of navigation. IF you fireup a new instance of windows explorer, then there is no navigation history for that instance hence it will not highlight/enable the back button

    Open up a folder - Tools - Folder Options...
    Choose Open each folder in the same window
    Click OK
